Our Mission Statement
The Volunteer Center of Erie County mobilizes people and resources to deliver creative solutions to the community's problems and needs.
Volunteering is a valuable way to for all citizens to contribute to the solutions of pressing human, social and environmental problems and to preserve and promote safe, attractive and flourishing communities for all people both locally and nationally. Volunteering allows individuals to
reaffirm their commitments to the community while at the same time realizing their full potential as people. By expressing their caring for others through their willingness to share their time, talents and energies, citizens who volunteer contribute to improvement in the quality of life for all.
America’s tradition of citizens’ involvement is a natural resource that must be nurtured and maintained, both through the recognition of its importance to the total society and through the development of programs and structures that will stimulate and enhance volunteering. It is the right of all citizens to offer themselves in service to their communities. It is the responsibility of voluntary organizations and agencies to offer the leadership and support that makes that service possible and meaningful.
